Openbook develops Workplace Design Strategy and Interior Architecture project for the new BNP Paribas Hub

Following the acquisition by BNP Paribas of two of the three buildings in the EXEO business complex – Aura and Echo, located in Lisbon’s Parque das Nações, work is about to begin on the offices’ interiors.

The Interior Architecture project was based on an in-depth and rigorous Workplace Design strategy study, both led by Openbook.

The new BNP Paribas HUB, with a total area of approximately 30,000 m2, is a project born out of the Group’s desire to centralise the majority of its teams in a single location, which until now have been dispersed throughout various areas of Lisbon. This strategy will make it possible to create a space tailored to the company and adapted to the constantly evolving needs of its employees, promoting innovation, collaboration, dynamism and well-being in the workplace.

The main objective of the Workplace Design Strategy, developed by Openbook, was to create a functional and inspiring environment that prioritises employee well-being and optimises productivity, based on diversity, flexibility, comfort and innovation.

In a study involving all BNP Paribas employees, the company wanted this space to be designed with the needs of those who use the office every day in mind.

In a day-to-day life in which everything happens at breakneck speed, it is essential to ensure that we adapt to change and focus on what is important. This was the motto behind the Highlighted Workplace concept created by Openbook for the new BNP Paribas HUB. Based on this concept, the highlighted zones are spaces for contact and communication, which are interspersed with spaces for focus and concentration and give rhythm and compartmentalisation to the office as a whole.

As a reinforcement and guarantee of the focus on people and sustainable practices, the goal of obtaining LEED and WELL Gold certifications was also set, two statutes that can be complementary to create a more effective union between the physical environment and the employee, optimising resources to guarantee environmental protection.

In the various spaces that will be created, the new BNP Paribas HUB will also have an auditorium, training rooms, multi-purpose rooms, a medical centre, cafeterias, terraces and a floor dedicated to events.
