For the Lote 10, Alcântara building, we focused on the concept of antagonism and harmony. A harmonious dialogue with the industrial identity of the context and simultaneously an image of contemporary that a 21st-century building must provide.
The enclosure is composed of two horizontal pieces that interlink in four oblique elements, introducing movement to the whole. An exterior structure of exposed concrete was designed high above the ground, which conveys a sense of lightness as if it were hovering over the landscape. The facade is set back from this enclosure dematerialising beyond it and giving strength to the concept of form levitation.
Our approach resides on a search for balance, in this duality between a heavy, uniform and orthogonal structure of metal from the facade, and the sensation of lightness given by the arcades, made of white concrete as a support structure.
A harmonious dialogue with the industrial identity of the context. The “international orange” colour, known for its use in the nautical industry, distinguishes the building from its surroundings.
