The project is defined by a strong horizontality, developing across a series of overlapping planes that generate a play of volumes. Recessed façades draw lines of shadow into the built mass, softening the perception of its weight and introducing rhythm and depth to the composition.

Architectural Elements

The L shaped layout creates a contained edge towards the street while opening broadly towards the southwest facing garden and pool, asserting the presence of the house on the land without competing with the landscape.

The contrast between opacity and transparency is not merely a formal gesture. It is the organising principle of life within the house. The social areas extend naturally towards the exterior through generous glazed openings and covered terraces, fusing interior with garden and with the particular Atlantic light of this coast.

The bedroom wing is conceived as a sequence of more introspective spaces: each room articulates around a private courtyard that frames fragments of sky and vegetation, ensuring privacy without sacrificing natural light.

The upper floor accommodates the master suite and a workspace, both connected to a generous covered terrace overlooking the landscape and the green roof below.

The basement integrates technical areas, parking and an ample leisure and games zone.

Pigmented exposed concrete defines both structure and character. Timber, natural stone and mineral stucco introduce warmth, texture and balance. Together with zinc accents, these materials form a cohesive and refined architectural language that is both Mediterranean in spirit and contemporary in resolution.

The landscape strategy prioritises the preservation of existing vegetation and the use of native species suited to the local climate. Gardens, terraces and courtyards are designed as extensions of the architecture, reinforcing the relationship between the built form and its natural setting.

A contemporary Mediterranean architecture, sensitive to its context, grounded in material authenticity and shaped by the light and landscape of the Cascais coast.
